Indian Autos Blog follower 87juliet, has shared an image of the Audi Q2 and next gen Audi Q5 in pre-production testing garb from Cape Town, South Africa. The former will make its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, while the latter will become official in mid-2016.

Both the Audi Q2 and 2016 Audi Q5 will follow Audi’s latest design language which was previewed by the Audi e-tron quattro at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. It will feature Audi’s characteristic angular design with sweptback LED headlamps, large grille, and a sporty front bumper.

The Q5 on test appears to be fitted with the S-Line body kit, as it features lower bumpers and quad exhaust tips.

While the Q2 will ride on the MQB modular platform, the Q5 will be based on the MLB Evo platform, which also underpins the new 2016 Audi A4 and 2015 Audi Q7. The former could be available with a 1.4-litre TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine for base variants, whereas higher models could get the bigger 2.0 TFSI and TDI engines. Transmission options would include 6-speed manual, 6-speed S tronic and 7-speed S tronic. The 2016 Audi Q5 will be built at Audi’s new manufacturing plant in Puebla, Mexico starting later this year.

The Q5 will offer four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, and the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine from the new A4. It will be equipped with either the S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox or the 8-speed tip-tronic transmission. The quattro AWD system will be standard on top-end grades.
