Webinar April 25: 2018 Cost Projections of PEM Fuel Cell Systems for Automobiles and Medium-Duty Vehicles
The Fuel Cell Technologies Office (FCTO) will present a live webinar titled "2018 Cost Projections of PEM Fuel Cell Systems for Automobiles and Medium-Duty Vehicles" on Wednesday, April 25, from 12 to 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). Brian James of Systems Analysis will discuss the recently updated polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell system cost projections for 80 kW automobiles and 160 kW trucks. This work builds upon past analyses and extends the examination to medium-duty trucks for the first time. The webinar will report cost projections for system production rates from 1,000/year up to 500,000/year at three levels of component technology, system configuration, and performance: current (2018), near-term future (2020), and future (2025). Emphasis is placed on charting the cost impact of recent technology improvements and examining differences between automotive and truck systems (performance requirements, materials and design, and operating conditions). The webinar will conclude with a 15-minute Q&A session.
